INTERESTED IN WORKING AS A TUTOR? CHECK OUT OUR EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES
General academic tutoring, Regents exam preparation, and SAT/PSAT workshops are available for all area students. Chautauqua Striders tutors consist of college students, graduates, retired teachers, and professionals. These dedicated individuals are proficient in subject areas and tutoring is available in all academic subjects.
Striders has partnered with other agencies to furnish tutoring for middle school students throughout the county. These programs are geared towards students in 5th through 8th grades with a focus on homework help, organization and study skills, and test-taking tips.
Students enrolled in these after school programs receive many of the same services mentioned above but in a more nurturing atmosphere designed to encourage and reinforce the regular school day learning experience.
(Students Attaining Future Aspiration, Respect, and Inspiration)
For a variety of reasons, not all students are well prepared or equipped to accept the added personal and academic responsibilities expected of them, and the move to senior high school can sometimes be a daunting one. SAFARI is a tutoring and mentoring program at Jamestown High School specifically designed to offer students academic assistance in a caring and a supportive atmosphere. Students are scheduled into SAFARI during the day and can also attend after school. Approximately 100 students per year are given the opportunity to build academic skills, improve classroom behavior, and develop effective study habits that will enhance their chances for graduation and future success.
